Frequently asked questions.

What should I bring to my session?

Wear comfy clothes that you will be able to get cozy in, and any comfort item such as a supportive crystal or a favorite blanket if you are feeling anxious. An optional silk eye mask will be provided, along with cozy blankets, a bolster, and a pillow. Water will be available, but it is always a good idea to bring your own water bottle so you will have it after the session.

Is Reiki a religion?

Reiki is not associated with a particular religion. It is a holistic and spiritual healing practice developed in Japan in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui. While it incorporates elements of spirituality, Reiki is not tied to any religious belief system and does not require adherence to a specific faith.

Reiki's underlying philosophy is based on the idea of channeling universal life force energy to promote healing and balance within the body. The practice encourages personal growth, self-awareness, and a sense of connection with the universe or a higher power, but it does not dictate what that higher power should be.

People from various religious backgrounds, as well as those who identify as spiritual but not religious, can practice and benefit from Reiki without any conflict with their existing beliefs. This inclusive nature of Reiki allows individuals to integrate it into their lives according to their personal spiritual or philosophical perspectives.

What is Hygge”?
Hygge, pronounced 'HOO-guh,' is a Danish concept that embodies a feeling of coziness, finding joy in simple moments, embracing warmth, and cultivating a sense of contentment through meaningful connections and self-care rituals, ultimately promoting emotional balance and peace.

What does Reiki aftercare look like?

While Reiki itself doesn't typically have specific aftercare requirements, here are some common practices that will keep the Reiki flowing:

  1. Hydration: Drink lots of water! Hydration helps the body flush out toxins that may have been released during the session and supports overall well-being.

  2. Rest and Relaxation: Allow yourself time to rest and integrate the energy work. Taking a nap, meditating, or simply sitting quietly can help you process the experience and integrate any discoveries you may have had.

  3. Self-Care Practices: Take a bath, practice gentle yoga, or spend time in nature. These practices can further enhance the positive effects of the session.

  4. Reflection: Journal about your experience. Consider any thoughts, emotions, or sensations that arose during the session. Journaling can be a helpful tool for capturing and processing these reflections, and they are great to look back at later when you want to remember how far you’ve come in your healing journey.

  5. Mindfulness: Practice mindfulness by staying present in the moment. This can be particularly beneficial in the hours and days following a Reiki session. Mindful breathing or meditation can help you stay connected with the positive energy cultivated during the session, and help you remain present in your everyday life.

  6. Healthy Lifestyle Choices: Tune in to your body to see what it is truly asking you for in terms of nourishment, movement, and rest. Then, be sure to honor it.

  7. Integration with Other Therapies: If you are undergoing other forms of therapy or medical treatment, communicate with your healthcare providers about your Reiki sessions. Reiki is often considered a complementary therapy, and it's essential to ensure that all aspects of your well-being are coordinated.

  8. Follow-Up Sessions: Depending on your goals and preferences, consider scheduling follow-up Reiki sessions. Regular sessions can provide ongoing support for physical, emotional, and spiritual balance.

Remember that individual experiences with Reiki can vary, and aftercare practices should be tailored to your needs and preferences. Always consult with your Reiki practitioner for personalized guidance based on your specific situation and goals.
